Big fish in small water. Orvis bamboo rod.
There isn’t much like catching a large fish in a stream no wider than your 7 foot noodle of a bamboo rod. This lovely brown fell for a flashback pheasant tail nymph fished right in the cut bank. These are the kinds of streams most anglers drive right past on the way to better known and more famous waters. I’m grateful that even guidebook authors don’t really fish everything that they put in their books, so while stream gets a passing mention, the little write up does no justice to the fall browns that live here, nor the early summer caddis hatch. It’s not the most scenic part of southern Utah, but on the warm, overcast October day that I caught this guy, I found it absolutely lovely.
boom. so well said.
